Yes, that’s right, hockey has cheerleaders too!

The NHL season is finally underway. Last season, we, the loyal fans, sat patiently while a bunch of old men squabbled about millions of dollars and deprived us of our beloved sport.  The lockout was terrible for everyone (even if my boy PK Subban won the Norris trophy for best defenseman.) This year we have a full 82 game season, and there are many exciting storylines to look forward to.  Of course, something that many people are particularly looking forward to is seeing a full 82 games of hockey’s cheerleaders.  I would guess that not everyone is familiar with the fact that cheerleaders even exist in the sport of hockey.  Hockey is not like football or basketball where the cheerleaders can wear skimpy clothes and do elaborate routines and dances….or is it?

Perhaps you will be shocked to find out that, not only do most teams in the NHL employ cheerleaders, that they are in fact some of the sexiest cheerleaders in sports!  This is of course just my opinion, but I will let you see for yourself and you can decide.

Of course, some people think the inclusion of cheerleaders in hockey is controversial and degrades women as well as the history of the game – this will always be a debated subject throughout every sport, but, in my opinion, if you look at basketball and football, you’ll see that cheerleading has almost become a sport of its own, with extremely competitive and popular competitions showcasing these women’s amazing athleticism and dedication.
